End-user research commissioned by Ovum shows that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are keen on VoIP. This is good news for telcos that have launched their own VoIP (voice over broadband) services. But the bad news for established telcos is that many small businesses are turning to Skype and other public Internet voice providers for their VoIP services rather than business-grade solutions from telcos. The challenge for established telcos is: how can they compete in the SME market against providers such as Skype when the services they are offering are free or almost-free? |
