The primary usage of portable multimedia players in Korea has been to view video content services downloaded through a fixed network connection. Consequently, PMP devices and services have been a niche market for early adopters. However, recently the Korean market has experienced an increase in PMP shipments, due to the expansion of new services like terrestrial DMB (T-DMB) and GPS navigation, and the increasing convergence of these capabilities. Furthermore, we believe that new networks such as HSDPA and WiBro will have a positive effect on the growth of the PMP device market.
