The French market for hotels has increased by 1.8% since 2000 to reach a volume of 661,800 rooms in 2001. The market grew by 6.7% over the review period between 1997 to 2001. France, with its low and stable supply growth, was the least affected market during the previous recession, and appears to be in a similar position should Europe face a major economic downturn.
