The UK market for healthfoods has grown by 0.5% since 2000 to reach a value of £423.4 million (US$629.4 million) in 2001. Over the review period the market grew by £85.9 million, an increase of almost 25.5%. There are no signs of the growth in consumer demand for healthfood products losing its momentum. While the growth in the 1990s was largely stimulated by food scares and an improving economy, now that consumers are more informed about food issues they show a continuing commitment to healthfood products.
