The German market for film production has increased by almost 20% since 2000, to reach a total of Euro 987 million (US$932 million) in 2001. Over the five year review period the market increased by over 31%. The HDF (Hauptverband Deutscher Filmtheater) attributes the enormous increase from 2000 to 2001 to the success of the "Super Kino Dienstag" (Super Cinema Tuesday) which already involved 2,600 screens in 2001.
