The eight cities along Yangtze River, including Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Zhenjiang in South Jiangsu and Nantong, Yangzhou and Taizhou in North Jiangsu, are the key districts of economic development in Jiangsu province. The regional GDP totaled RMB 1.73 trillion, accounting for 80.5% of the province. The import & export value in 2006 achieved USD 276.36 billion with a year-on-year increase of 24.2%. In 2006, the number of newly established foreign invested enterprises was 5796 with an increase of 28.3%, and the actual received foreign investment capital approved by Ministry of Commerce of PRC was USD 16.352 billion, increasing 32.1% from a year earlier. The development level of opening-up economy is still in the leading position of the whole province. |
