The total return from rental income from commercial real estate and property management was £7.4 billion in 2001. During the review period as a whole the market grew by 45.1%. The UK commercial property experienced a good year in 2001, outperforming both equities and gilt. Much of this growth was, however, regionally concentrated, notable growth occurring in the South East of England and London.
