Executive SummaryAAPT is Australia’s third largest telecommunications carrier offering local, national and international voice, data, mobile pay TV Internet services to business, corporate, government and residential customers.Amcom is a telecommunications carrier providing fibre, DSL Broadband and Internet services to corporate, government and SME markets.
Based in Western Australia, they have constructed over 750km of high-speed fibre optic networks in Perth, Darwin and Adelaide.Broadcast Australia owns and operates the most extensive broadcast transmission network in Australia, the only infrastructure network capable of providing near national coverage by terrestrial delivery.Based in Adelaide South Australia, Chariot is the second largest ISP in South Australia.
It is currently ranked in the top 10 ISPs in Australia.
The company entered merger agreements with Datafast Telecommunications, which will create Australia’s fifth largest ISP.
Commander Communication offers a complete set of telecommunications services bundled with telephone systems, computer systems, broadband Internet, VPN’s and Web-hosting.
Products and services include integrated voice and data telecommunication services and data hardware.
Digital Distribution Australia, previously known as NTL Telecommunications, is a regional wholesale telecommunications provider of voice, video, data, Internet access, IP, and VPNs.
They own and operates a 8,500km carrier-grade microwave network running from Cairns to Melbourne.Hutchison Telecommunications owns three networks, a national satellite based paging network for messaging and financial information, a CDMA mobile network offering services branded Orange Mobile, and a WCDMA network offering 3G mobile video calls, news and entertainment, branded ‘3’.
iiNet is the third largest ISP in Australia, after the acquisition of OzEmail in February 2005.
This followed a previous major acquisition of New Zealand based ISP ihug.Legion Interactive is Australia’s leading provider of interactive communication bureau services and the nation’s largest wireless marketing (SMS) facilitator.
Legion services include promotional marketing services, information services, content aggregation, origination and publishing.
Macquarie Telecom is a supplier of Information and Communications Technology for the business and government markets.
The company provides a range of voice, data, mobile and hosting solutions to companies in Australia and Singapore.
NEXTEP Broadband is a national provider of wholesale xDSL access products, including ADSL and SHDSL.
Its services include nationwide VPNs and Internet access.
Nextgen Networks owns and operates a high capacity terrestrial cable network.
The cable runs between the country’s principal capital cities, and has links to nodes in around 70 regional cities and centres.
The network has a reach to around 90% of the Australian population.People Telecom provides a range of telecommunication products and services including voice - mobile and fixed, data - broadband and Virtual Private Network, and VoIP products.
The merger of Swiftel with People Telecom was announced in 2004.Personal Broadband Australia is a wholesaler of Australian broadband wireless services, using Arraycomm’s iBurst technology.
In June 2005, Commander Communications acquired 80% of PBA.
PowerTel provides data, voice and Internet services to corporate, government and wholesale customers through its owned and operated 100% fibre optic network.
This includes last-mile Fibre-to-the-Building p to customers in city buildings, coupled with one of the largest DSL broadband networks.Primus Telecommunications is a facilities-based total service provider offering local, domestic and international telephony, data, Internet, DSL, e-commerce, Web hosting, VPNs and mobile services.S P Telemedia has developed and rolled out a national IP network to provide Video over IP for Digital Television distribution.
The recent purchase of B Digital, has resulted in three operating divisions: media, telecommunications infrastructure and retail telecommunications.
TCNZ Australia is one of Telecom New Zealand’s major growth prospects in Australia.
The company provides outsourced IT&T solutions for large corporate customers, including switched voice, data, mobile, Internet, call centres, LAN/WAN networking and e-commerce services.Telecorp is a communications company focused on the prepaid market, providing value added services to both the consumer and business markets.Total Peripherals Group (TPG) is a private Australian IT company and one of the largest Australian-owned ISPs, which provides a range of products and services.TransACT Communications is a Canberra based, privately owned company that builds and operates broadband communications infrastructure across Canberra.
It delivers triple play communications services via voice, high speed data and video.Unwired Australia is a wireless broadband service provider that currently provides services throughout the Sydney CBD.
The company has formed an alliance with Pay TV broadcaster AUSTAR.Virgin Mobile Australia is a consumer focused MVNO operator with its headquarters in Sydney and stores in Sydney, Brisbane & Melbourne.
Virgin Mobile was the first Australia provider to adopt the MVNO model.Vodafone Australia provides mobile services to 2.7 million customers, representing an 18% market share.
